This week we renewed/extended the lease on our apartment for only seven months. The current lease ends March 16, 2023, and the new one ends October 16, 2023, meaning we now have a final date as land dwellers. It is really exciting seeing all of the pieces fall into place and having a date out there.
The timing is also interesting. We received the keys to the apartment right at a year ago, and this week we set our final date in the apartment. The original lease was for 15 months, and our renewal is the minimum allowed in Florida (or else pay hotel taxes). When we first moved in, we thought we would renew with another 15-month lease, and perhaps another lease after that. So this 7-month lease feels really good (and surreal).
Also, just a week or so ago we signed a lease on a slip in the St. Petersburg area. We had been on a waiting list since May and were super excited to hear that a spot was going to be open January 1. The plan is to keep that lease going until the end of November to give us a six-week safety net before we become fully lease-less.
